UK Parcel Forwarding Guide — How to Forward Parcels from the UK
UK Parcel Forwarding Guide — How to Forward Parcels from the UK
UK parcel forwarding is one of the most effective ways for international shoppers and businesses to access UK retail, manage returns and reduce international shipping costs. This guide covers how a UK forwarding service works, what to look for when choosing one, how to consolidate parcels, what customs rules apply and what common mistakes to avoid.
Summary — How It Works
1. Register free and receive a personalised UK street address instantly.
2. Shop from any UK retailer using your forwarding address at checkout.
3. Your parcel is processed on arrival — photographed, weighed and measured automatically.
4. Hold parcels in free storage and consolidate multiple orders into one shipment.
5. Compare carriers, pay for shipping and we dispatch worldwide with full customs documentation.
How UK Parcel Forwarding Works — Step by Step
Step 1 — Register and get your UK address
Register free at send2hub.com/login. Your personalised UK street address is available immediately — no setup fee, no waiting. Your unique unit number must always be included when placing orders with UK retailers. The Individual plan is for non-UK residents only — UK residents must register a verified business account.
Step 2 — Shop from any UK retailer
Use your forwarding address at checkout on any UK website — Amazon UK, ASOS, John Lewis, M&S, Boots, eBay UK, Etsy and hundreds of British brands. The retailer treats it as a standard domestic UK address. Browse our UK Shopping Directory for accessible British stores.
Step 3 — Parcel processed on arrival
Every parcel is photographed, weighed and measured automatically. Parcels delivered before 15:00 GMT are processed the same working day — after 15:00 GMT, next business morning. Full details appear in your dashboard immediately.
Step 4 — Consolidate and save
Hold parcels in storage while all your orders arrive. Combine into one outbound shipment to reduce costs significantly. Most customers save 40–60% through consolidation. See our parcel consolidation page for full details.
Step 5 — Choose carrier and ship worldwide
Compare live rates across Royal Mail, Parcelforce, DHL, FedEx, UPS and DPD. We prepare customs documentation and dispatch worldwide. Use our shipping calculator for current rates.
How to Choose a UK Forwarding Service
Automation and same-day processing
A fully automated service processes every parcel the same day it arrives — with arrival photographs and full details in your dashboard immediately. Manual processing introduces delays and errors. Send2Hub's platform is fully automated with no manual data entry.
Free storage period
You need time for all orders to arrive before consolidating. Look for a minimum of 30 days on the basic plan. Send2Hub: 30 days Individual, 45 days Business, 60 days Premium — no monthly fee on Individual and Business plans.
Carrier choice and transparent pricing
Look for at least four to six carriers with live rate comparison at checkout. Avoid services that charge per-parcel receiving fees, consolidation fees or repackaging surcharges. With Send2Hub, the price in the shipping calculator is the final price — no hidden fees.
Arrival photography
Photography on arrival is essential for second-hand goods, fragile items and high-value purchases. It provides evidence of condition when the item arrived at the warehouse. At Send2Hub, one arrival photograph is included at no charge on every plan.
Consolidation Example
Without consolidation: Three 0.5kg parcels shipped separately to Germany — approximately £36–45 total.
With consolidation: Same three parcels as one 1.5kg shipment — approximately £14–18 total.
Saving: approximately 50–60%. Use our shipping calculator to estimate your specific saving.
Customs Guide — Key Destinations
Customs declarations
Always declare accurate contents and values — underdeclaring is illegal and can result in seizure or fines. Send2Hub prepares export documentation based on your declared contents. Use our customs duty estimator for destination-specific charges.
EU (from 1 July 2026)
Flat €3 duty per HS code line on parcels valued at €150 or below. Local EU VAT applies separately. Consolidation reduces the number of customs charges — one shipment pays one set of fees.
USA
De minimis threshold suspended August 2025. All UK-to-USA shipments subject to US import duties. Children's products require CPSC eFiling from 8 July 2026 — contact our team before ordering these categories.
Australia
AUD 1,000 GST threshold applies. UK-Australia FTA eliminates tariffs on 99% of UK-origin goods by 2027.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Missing unit number. Always include your unique Send2Hub unit number in Address Line 2. Without it, your parcel may be placed in the Unidentified Parcels Unit and a £2.00 fee applies.
Ordering from overseas marketplaces. Send2Hub only accepts parcels dispatched from within the UK. Goods from Chinese, European or American sellers on Amazon or eBay cannot be accepted — even if listed on Amazon.co.uk. Only sellers dispatching from UK addresses qualify.
Ordering prohibited items. Perfumes, standalone batteries, aerosols and other prohibited items cannot be accepted. Always check the prohibited items list before ordering items you are uncertain about.
Inaccurate customs declarations. Underdeclaring values is illegal and can result in seizure, fines or delays at your destination customs authority.
Not consolidating. Forwarding each parcel individually is the most expensive way to use a UK reshipping service. Always wait for all orders to arrive and consolidate before shipping.
When Not to Use a UK Forwarding Service
Prohibited items. If the item you want to order is on the prohibited list — perfumes, batteries, aerosols, medicines — a UK reshipping service cannot help. Do not order these items to a forwarding address.
Overseas suppliers. If your supplier is based outside the UK, they cannot send goods to Send2Hub. All inbound parcels must be dispatched from within the United Kingdom.
Legal documents and official correspondence. A forwarding address cannot be used for Companies House registration, HMRC, banking or any official purpose. Use a dedicated virtual business address service for these needs.
Business Use Cases
E-commerce returns management. International businesses on Amazon UK, eBay UK and Shopify need a UK returns address to meet platform requirements. See our e-commerce returns management service.
Marketplace compliance. Amazon UK requires FBM sellers to provide a UK returns address. Without one, Amazon may issue returnless refunds at the seller's cost.
UK supplier consolidation. Businesses sourcing from multiple British suppliers can consolidate at Send2Hub before international freight — reducing base charges and simplifying customs documentation.
Restrictions Summary
UK-only inbound: Only parcels dispatched from within the UK accepted. No overseas suppliers or international marketplaces.
Prohibited items: Standalone batteries, perfumes, aerosols, SIM cards, weapons, flammable liquids, narcotics, medicines, nicotine products, perishable food, counterfeit goods — cannot be accepted or forwarded.
Restricted items: Devices with batteries, jewellery, glassware, antiques, televisions — accepted but not covered against loss or damage. Arrange independent insurance for high-value items.

Glossary
HS code — Harmonised System code. A standardised numerical code used internationally to classify goods for customs purposes. Including the correct HS code speeds up customs clearance.
De minimis — A threshold below which imported goods are exempt from customs duties. The US de minimis ($800) was suspended in August 2025. EU de minimis (€22) was abolished in July 2021.
Consolidation — Combining multiple parcels from different UK retailers into a single outbound international shipment. Typically saves 40–60% on shipping costs versus forwarding each parcel individually.
Volumetric weight — A calculated weight based on parcel dimensions: L(cm) × W(cm) × H(cm) ÷ 5,000 = kg. International carriers charge for the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight.
